AGENDA
Plone at the University of Washington Libraries
The University of Washington Libraries has decided to use Plone to replace the current anarchy of our Libraries' intranet. This talk will cover our progress. We welcome criticism and advice.
Covering:
Authentication: PlonePAS: PubCookie and ActiveDirectory.
Caching: We don't need no stinkin' caching. We are going to throw hardware at the problem. Actually we have to figure out caching.
Content Input: Using existing Libraries' organizational hierarchy to determine input. Difficulties involved: shifty hierarchy, tribalism.
Content Output: Hope to use SmartFolders to group content by function, i.e. Policies & Procedures, Tutorials, Forms, ReAppointment.
Training: ~500 staff, unknown #'s of workstudy and student assistants.
Future Directions: integration with 'discovery tools' - library jargon for encoding standards/strategies.
Led by:
Ian Masterson: Linux Systems Administrator
Jennifer Ward: Web Services Librarian
Anjanette Young: Systems Librarian
Lightning Talks
Lightning talks are 5 minute introductions to topics spanning the
landscape of Plone. Launched a new site? Looking to hire? Tried a
new product lately? We want to hear about it. Additionally, if you're
looking for insight on a topic, you can request a lightning talk of
others. Come prepared to share and learn.
